    Picrorhiza kurrooa Royle ex Benth.. A low, more or less hairy perennial herb with an elongate, stout, creeping rootstock; leaves almost radical, spathulate, sharply serrate; flowers white or pale blue-purple, in a dense terminal spicate raceme; fruit an ovoid capsule. P. kurrooa obtained as dried rhizomes and roots are used as substitute for Gentiana kurroo (Juntiyana)
